Booster flight test
SpaceX: Super Heavy’s primary test is a full launch, ascent, separation, boostback, and landing burn at an offshore Gulf point. Flight 13 ended boostback early after ice clogged three center engines; only 8 of 13 landing-burn engines lit. This booster has hardware filtering and software changes aimed at that failure. A V3 tower catch is not on this flight.
3 checkpoints
- Booster 21 static fire is complete (Aug 28) and the booster is on the Pad 2 mount
- Execute boostback and landing burn with the published engine set
- Soft-splash at the offshore Gulf landing point — catch is not the plan
